Specialized Care

Programs such as on-site physiotherapy and our restorative care program, as well as allied professionals such as our Registered Social Worker and Registered Dietitian, work as part of our care team. 

Special health care services are available to Residents assessed as requiring these services. Services are coordinated by the Charge Nurse.

In-house restorative care program is available to residents and works in co-operation with the physiotherapy program. Aspects of the Restorative Care program include mobility, grooming, toileting, and feeding.

In-house Physiotherapy is provided by a registered physiotherapist and therapy assistants for residents who have been assessed for requiring physiotherapy. Residents must be willing to work towards goals and co-operate with the therapists. Physiotherapist assistants are on-site 5 days a week.

Foot Care is provided by an RPN with advanced foot care and wound training. This optional service by “Healthy And Happy Footcare Services” is billed to the family member every 6-8 weeks for those who wish to use this service.

Dental Services are available through a mobile service from Golden Care Dental Services. The cost is the responsibility of the Resident / Family and is on an as-needed basis. If a resident wishes to continue with their community dentist or source their own provider for dental services, they are welcome to.

Dietitian: A Registered Dietitian is in the Home and provides assessments and recommendations for the resident’s nutritional needs. There is no cost to the Resident. The Registered Dietitian is responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating the clinical aspects of the residents’ nutritional care, in keeping with the program standards for long-term care.

Registered Social Worker is on-site and available to meet the needs of residents and family members. The social worker assists during the transition period for new residents as well as resident advocacy, and supporting residents in decision making to achieve goals.

Other Medical Services are available, including psychiatric, x-ray, and lab. Other specialized services are arranged by the Home. Costs are generally covered by O.H.I.P.
