Residents enjoy a variety of recreation programs and special events offered by our recreation department.
Learn MoreThe Recreation Department provides quality programs to meet the social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of all residents. Programs are offered 7 days a week and also include some evening activities. Programs include individual and group programs.
Examples of recreation programs include: exercises, bingo, current events, pet therapy, aromatherapy, art therapy by a registered art therapist, and music engagement.
Spiritual programs are also available and provided by our visiting Chaplain.
New and innovative programs including Virtual Reality programming is offered. Victoria Gardens uses the Rendever VR platform to expand worlds and reduce social isolation through the power of virtual reality.
Program details are posted on information boards on the unit.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the programs of their choice.
For programs that have incidental charges, (eg. ordering food in, scenic tours, etc.) will be billed with their monthly accommodation statement, providing authorization has been given for the resident to be involved in special activities/events that have added costs.
In the warmer weather, activities take place on the patio and residents enjoy community outings. For most community outings, transportation is arranged by the Activity Department with DARTS. Residents who participate in the outings will be billed for the Darts ticket and if applicable, any admission or cost of the outing.
Resident Council meetings are scheduled monthly. This is a forum that residents may attend to voice concerns or have questions addressed that are common amongst multiple residents. Generally, if there is a specific concern from an individual, it can be addressed with a department manager at the time, as opposed to needing to wait for the monthly meeting. Issues, concerns, and information about the Home are discussed and addressed. Minutes are taken by staff and posted within the Home.
Family Council meetings are scheduled every 3 months and all family members are welcome to attend. The purpose of the Family Council is to act as an advocacy, empowerment, and support group to families while offering a mechanism for improving the quality of life of residents and providing support for family members. Currently, due to COVID, family members may attend the meeting via Zoom. Minutes of the meeting are posted in the lobby area and are emailed out to family contacts.
